In Charlie’s Office

 

Situation  :  Mr. Woods wants to invest in the hotel business.  He’s has decided to be a

                        partner of an old, famous hotel in California.  Below is the conversation

                        between Mr. Woods and Charlie, the hotel manager, when the latter shows

                        the former around.

 

Charlie  :  More coffee, Mr. Woods ?

Woods   :  No, thank you.

Charlie  :  Well, in that case, you should see the hotel now.

Woods   :  Fine.

Charlie  :              1           , please ?  (Mr. Woods follows Charlie to the hotel’s corridor.)  I think I’ll

                   tell you something about the history of the hotel.

Woods   :  Please do.  It seems to me             2          .   

Charlie  :  Well, the hotel was founded on the third of February 2008, when this part was opened.

Woods   :  Oh,             3           .

Charlie  :  Yes, and quite a lot of            4           have been made since then.  A new restaurant

                   was added in 2010, and an entire new air-conditioning system was installed in 2012,

                   and has been extended since then.  Four years ago, the interior of the lobby was

                   redesigned because the number of guests had increased.  In fact,            5           since

                   then, and consequently many new staff have been recruited and trained.

Woods   :  You’ve done a great deal since the hotel was opened, Charlie.  By the way,            6           ?

Charlie  :  Well, I started work here as an assistant manager in 2011, and              7            two years

Woods   :  Has the hotel made a profit every year since it was opened ?

Charlie  :  Well …………… yes.  Every year except in 2013,             8          , we’ve made

ชาลี  :  ใช่ครับ  และ              ๔            มากมายได้ถูกทำขึ้นตั้งแต่นั้นมา (since then),  (เช่น) ภัตตา

              ตั้งแต่นั้นมา  และดังนั้น (เพราะฉะนั้น, ผลที่ตามมา) (consequently)  พนักงานใหม่ๆ จำนวน

              มากได้รับการคัดเลือก (เกณฑ์, เกณฑ์ทหาร) (recruited) และฝึกอบรมครับ
